Comrade Anil Biswas

Age: 62 years (DOB: 01.03.1944).
Graduated from Krishnanagore Govt. College with Honours. In Political Science in the year 1964.
MA in Political Science from Calcutta University in the year 1966.
Joined leftist student’s movements in 1962.
Badly injured in 1963 in police firing on student demonstration in Krishnanagore led by him.
Arrested and imprisoned for 11 months in 1965.
Joined as party member of Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 1965.
Joined as party whole-timer in 1969 and served as ‘Journalist’ of “Ganashakti”, Party organ of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) West Bengal State Committee.
Underground life 1975-1976.
Member, State Committee CPI (M) since 1978.
Member, State Secretariat CPI (M) since 1982.
Editor of “Ganashakti” from 1983 to 1998.
Editor of “Marxbadi Path” since 2001, theoritical quarterly of CPI (M) West Bengal State Committee.
Member, Central Committee CPI (M) since 1985.
Secretary of West Bengal State Committee since 16th November, 1998.
Member, Polit Bureau, CPI (M) since 1998.
Several publications, mainly on Marxist Philosophy, Communist organisation, International affairs.
Member, Party History Commission of CPI(M).
Survived by wife and daughter.
Visited Russia, China, D.P.R.K.,Japan, Bangladesh, Cyprus, Great Britain and USA.
